Class Structure

Classes at the Studio are designed in a progressive model, and are open to actors after they have taken Sara’s Weekend Intensive (which is a non-negotiable prerequisite in order to be considered for ongoing class). Each actor will be evaluated by their instructor and then placed per Sara’s discretion in to one of our classes: Learn, Practice 1, Practice 2, or Work. Our mission as a studio is to provide a disciplined sacred space for actors to train like athletes. Classes run in 3-month cycles, Jan.-March, April-June and Mid August through November.  We have classes offered Sunday-Thursday evenings at the Studio, and actors are expected to commit for the duration of each cycle.

Mornell Studios does not allow auditing.

The Thursday or Sunday Night Learn Class: For actors who have taken the Weekend Intensive, and will be starting their first 3 months at Mornell Studios. The work will be focused on breaking down walls, old habits, what each actors’ core essence is, and how to practice honesty in their work. In addition how to prepare and breakdown material for the 21st century actor will also be covered. This is where the foundation for the Mornell Method will be introduced, habits are broken and lives are changed in what some have called the most challenging and rewarding class they’ve ever taken. Sundays 6-9pm or Thursdays 7-10pm *be advised class may run 3.5 hours long. 3 month commitment required and will be taught by Studio Staff.

Tuesday Night Practice 1 or Wednesday Night Practice 2 Class: For those actors who have a solid understanding of the Mornell Method. These classes will incorporate more exercises to stretch, script work and deepening the actors understanding of themselves and what they bring to the roles, as well as a weekly business lesson. Tuesdays & Wednesdays 7-10pm *be advised class may run 3.5 hours long. 3 month commitment required.

Monday Night Work Class: An ongoing workout for actors who have been working with the Mornell Method at length, have been studying with Sara for some time or are at a certain place in their career. Each week the assignment will focus on a different genre. This class and this class only is a structured on a month-to-month commitment. Mondays 7-10pm
